Canadian Kodak Company Prismatic Mk.III Compass
The World War II compass has a brass body and lid with original black finish, the glass lid having a sighting hairline and the lid lifting tab with aiming notch. There is a prism which allows you to read the bearing and a mother of pearl dial (which spins freely) with a triangular luminous North marker. The compass fitted with a bezel-tightening knob (the bezel numbered 1 to 36) and thumb/lanyard ring. The original red rubber friction ring on the base is perished, the base being stamped 'ckc/C 24713c Mk III' a broad arrow (crows foot), indicating that it was Government Army Issue. ckc is the abbreviated maker's name 'Canadian Kodak Company' and they made the MkIII under license from Francis Barker Ltd.
There are general signs of use, some wear to the original finish, the mother of pearl card is in very good condition.
