Tennis, Palmerie Bronze Figures

Sold

A very good pair of Tennis related ( Palmerie ) bronze Figures, signed Claessens and T. Verhelpen, Brussels. One being the Artist, the other the foundery. Probably mid 19th century.
These figures show a game played mainly in France, it is I believe a game that is a mixture of Pelota and tennis. One of the players is wearing a type of glove Sometimes called Casserole and the other has on the ground a tambourine type of racket. He is also holding a ball in his right hand.
A fine and rare pair of Bronze sculptures.
