Vintage James Dixon & Sons Travelling Beakers.
A set of four graduating, high quality plated beakers in original travelling leather case by James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield. The beakers fit inside each another and then into the leather case, the case is secured with two push buttons. The whole set is in good condition and marked JD & S, "Trumpet and Banner" & made in England on the bases of the beakers. They are also stamped L 396/13 65, L 396/14 ¼ pint 65, L 396/11 65 & L 396/12 66.
The JD & S is the mark of James Dixon & Sons and the "Trumpet and Banner" mark identifies without doubt it is a Dixon's product. The use of the trumpet is to prevent mistakes with the marks "JD & S" used by another Sheffield manufacturer, James Deakin & Sons.
