Antique Black Forest Canine Inkwell.
A charming late 19th Century 'Black Forest Bavarian' dog inkwell. The beautiful antique wooden novelty pen tray combined ink well has an impressive carving of a dogs head with glass eyes. The desk tidy modelled as a Terrier head is hinged, revealing a hidden glass inkwell when opened. The terrier clings to a pen tray, which is carved to look like a hollowed out log with bark texture to the outside while remaining smooth to the inside. This stunning piece is most probably carved from Limewood (Lindenwood) but looks very similar to walnut and is with great colouring and patina.
