Vintage Presentation Curling Besom, Broom.
A scarce curling besom, brush or corn broom with a turned wooden handle with carved thistle top. The handle with engraved silver bands. The Silver-mounted curling broom was 'Presented To Stracathro Curling Club By The Gibson Family Nov. 1957' as a tournament prize. The besom was first played for in 1957 - 58 season and won by A. Lindsay, Mrs. E. Milne, Rev. W.G. Burns & N.S. Hanslip (skip), it was continuously played for until 1980 - 81, the final winners (skip) M. Edwards, ST. Brown, E.M. Tavendale & S. Brown.
The broom comes in a wooden box for travel and storage, the price is for the broom only, curling stone is sold separately.
