Fantastic Double Carving Set With Antler Handles.
A cased silver plate, antler double carving set with fish servers and two sets of knife rests. The carving set comes together with related photograph and printed items of Mr. Wright. The lid with plaque 'Walsall Police, Sports, August 3rd 1891, 1st Prize 220 Yards Obstacle Handicap, Won By P/C William J. Wright'. There is a paper card 'First Prize, Obstacle Race' and a photograph of P/C William J. Wright in uniform with paper cutting reading 'Death of Former Well-Known Walsall Runner, The death has occurred at Walsall in his 79th year of Mr. William J. Wright, of Walsing-ham-Street, who was a member of Walsall police force for 30 years before his retirement in 1921. Mr. Wright was a well-known runner in his early years, and won many prizes at local sports'.
