A wonderful Victorian oil painting of a hunting scene. The oil on canvas with a dreamy scene of a gamekeeper, his hunting dogs, his catch of the day and his young apprentice. The game can be seen arrayed out on the floor and hanging from the wooden gate, hares, peasants and partridges. The gamekeeper is by his pony with a wicker pannier over its back. The oil is signed in the bottom right-hand corner by the artist and is very much in the manner of James Hardy Junior.
