Vintage John Copus Cricket Bat.
A nice looking, clean, willow cricket bat blade embossed 'John Copus, Catford' on both shoulders of the bat. Blade stamped 'Hand Made, Special Driver 'Star' Selected', to the rear 'Reblade'. The bat with nice patina and a strung grip.

John left school at 16 and learned to make cricket bats working for the late, Stuart Surridge, former captain of Surrey CCC. When the firm left London in the mid sixties to establish its business in Witham in Essex, John took redundancy and started working for himself doing repairs in a shed in his parent's garden. Over time the repair business escalated and John moved to shop premises in Hither Green where he also started a sports retail business specialising in cricket. Almost sixty years down the line and John has now retired from retail sales and re established his cricket equipment repair business from his workshop at home. John Copus Sports are one of the only independent specialist businesses in the UK offering these services.
