The Final Of The Hunt Cup, Ranelagh 1898, Pytchley V Warwickshire.
A large very rare polo photogravure with hand colouring of the 1898 Final Of The Hunt Cup, taken from the original painting by George Goodwin Kilburne. The print with Print Sellers Association blind stamp and artist's signature in pencil to lower left. The print mounted with inscribed title on the mount "The Final Of The Hunt Cup, Ranelagh 1898, Pytchley V Warwickshire". Publishing details 'Published, Febr 1900 by A Baird-Carter, 61Jermyn St. London, the proprietor of the copyright. Photograuvre Franz Harfstaergl, Munich.'. This is George Goodwin Kilburne, Jnr., RBA (1863 - 1938) only known polo painting. The tournament was taken by the Pytchley (in white), with Graham McIvor, captain Gordon Renton, Walter Buckmaster and the Comte Jean de Madré.

Only 200 signed proofs were issued with 25 Presentation Proofs. No titled or common impressions and the plate was destroyed after production.

The painting is referred to in 'Bailys Magazine, 1900 July issue' :- Ranelagh - The Hunt Gap. This tournament has steadily grown in favour with the public and with players. Possibly, it owes something to the popularity of Mr. Goodwin Kilburne's picture and the fine photogravure, of which copies are now to be seen in many clubs and private houses. Nevertheless, owing to the fact that the love of polo and of hunting are so closely connected, the various stages produce good games, and the final generally a keen struggle.
