Contemporary Metal Horse Sculpture.
A striking contemporary sculpture by Sophie Thompson, this freestanding metal horse is entirely handmade from recycled materials and designed to be enjoyed both indoors and out. When displayed outside, the metal will naturally weather over time, developing a distinctive patina that adds character and charm to the piece.
Created with exceptional skill and care, the sculpture captures not only the proportions and anatomy of the horse, but also its sense of movement, freedom and vitality. Every element has been thoughtfully placed, combining craftsmanship with a genuine feeling for the animal.
Sophie begins by creating a basic framework-the spine, legs and hips-and then builds the sculpture piece by piece, rather like putting together a three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle. Her materials are wonderfully varied and often have a history of their own, including plough parts, horse harnesses and horse bits.
The result is a unique equine sculpture with plenty of personality, making it a memorable addition to a home or garden and a thoughtful gift for a horse lover, homeowner or keen gardener.
Sophie works both to commission and for exhibitions throughout the UK, with her sculptures now held in private collections around the world. Her past commissions have ranged from life-sized horses to exotic and domestic animals, as well as imaginative mythical beasts.
Each sculpture is individual, bringing together reclaimed materials, skilled craftsmanship and a strong appreciation for the character and spirit of the animal it represents.
