Early Brass Fishing Reel With Folding Handle.
A very unusual 3¾" brass fly reel, a very attractive reel with a smooth constant check and unpolished finish in original condition. It comes with full foot plate and a folding bone handle that locks in place with a small brass wheel. The face plate is without manufacturer details but we have had a very similar reel in the past engraves with John Bernard, Piccadilly, London.
Shown depth of the reel is 5 cm without the handle, handle is an extra 3.3 cm.
John Bernard and his sons made a variety of fly reels in their London shop from the mid-1820's up until 1940.
