Hardy "The De-luxe" 9ft 6" Palakona Fishing Rod.
A beautifully 3 piece 9'6" split cane fly fishing rod by Hardy of Alnwick. The rod is in very good condition with the registration number E12174, dating it to 1925 - 31. It has the inscription spiralling around the rod, 'The Deluxe Rod. Palakona Regd, No. 21036'. The rod is a 3 piece rod with the original spare and original hardy alloy tube with canvas bags, fitted with bronze ferrules, stud 'Lockjoints', cork handle with alloy screw reel fitting. Hardy were the first manufacturer to make split cane rods in hexagonal form as The Hardy 'Palakona' rod.
Size showing is for the alloy tube, measurements of the four segments of the rod are, handle 99cm - 2nd piece 1m - tip No.1 97cm - tip no.2 97cm.

This design embodies all that is useful and practical with great elegance and refinement, most carefully balanced, to fish either dry or wet fly, with great precision and delicacy.
