Antique Ship's Table With Brass Corners
Antique Ship's Table With Brass Corners
Campaign Lowboy Table With Brass Corners.
An unusual teak ship's campaign table with a removable top, the top comes away from the base to allow for ease of movement and transport. The stand is fixed and does not come apart, the top will sit inside the moulded top edge which drops down at the front to allow the drawer to open. Made with a pegged construction with four stretchers and set-in metal reinforcing straps at the top of the legs, these have become almost invisible as they have blended in with the rich colour and dark patina of the timber. The top has flush brass corner straps and pegged end cleats with an historical repair down the center from a shrinkage crack. The single drawer with a row of internal divided sections to the front, two brass oval dropper handles and a lock (no key). The timber and construction suggest that it might be colonial in origin. This is probably a 'one off' piece of campaign furniture and possibly made as a commission piece.
The price showing is for the table only. If interested in any of the other pieces please enquire.
