Gassiat Putter by Fred Whiting.
An unusual shaped putter "Jean Gassiat" with pistol grip handle by Fred Whiting. Fred was born in Worcester in 1874. He was the professional at West Cornwall 1901 - 1911, and Royal St. Georges 1911 - 1947. This putter bears the name of FRED WHITING, SANDWICH. Because of its squared off nose, a Gassait putter could also be used croquet style.
Born in 1883, Jean Gassiat was a talented French golf professional who worked at Golf de Chantilly, in Chantilly, France. He won the French Open in 1912, defeating Vardon by a stroke, and was the French Native Professional Champion in 1912, 1919, 1927 and 1929.
