Cornelius Saunders & Frank Shepherd, Saunders & Sheperd was founded in London by Cornelius Desormeaux Sanders Sr and James Francis Hollings Sheperd (1869). They were a firm of manufacturing jewellers, initially specialising in mourning jewellery, but by 1880 they were advertising as "manufacturers in gold and standard silver of brooches, earrings, chains, swivels, lockets and necklets, pendants, solitaires, studs and charms. In 1899 they became Saunders & Sheperd Ltd. when Cornelius Saunders passed away and his three sons became directors. Later in 1916 they were Saunders, Sheperd & Co Ltd.
