Croquet Putter.
A very unusual large wooden head croquet mallet type putter. The hardwood head, stained black with crossed grooves on the playing surface and lead weight inserts in the base. The hickory shaft has also been stained black and is fitted with a later but old polished leather grip. A very good collectors piece in great condition.
Putting in the croquet style, swinging the club between the legs has long been outlawed so don't think of using this club in your local or Open Chamionship.
The Croquet or Sam Snead style of putting was banned by the USGA in 1968.
