Ogden Tab Cigarette Cards Of Ladies Golfers.
The four Ogden Tab Cigarette cards are of two lady golfers, Miss Issette Pearson and Miss Armstrong. The Ogden's cigarette cards are with distinctive black borders, white block print and a main photo image, the backs are blank. Tobacco cards / cigarette cards are trading cards issued by tobacco manufacturers, often to stiffen cigarette packaging and to promote and advertise their own brands. The cigarette companies often included collectible cards with their packages of cigarettes between 1875 and 1940's and often depicted actresses of the period, costumes and sports.
The Ogden Tab Cigarettes General Interest issue was a massive set, believed to contain around 1,560 cards, spread out over six series between 1901 & 1902. Whilst the set includes a large number of non-sporting subjects, it has a good number of sports cards from various sports, including boxing, golf, cycling, soccer, rugby, cricket, and more.

Frances Issette Jessie Pearson (1861 - 1941) was an English golfer and the first honorary secretary of the Ladies Golf Union (LGU) which was founded in 1893. Pearson had reached the final of the British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship in 1893 and she would repeat that position in 1894, losing to Lady Margaret Scott on each occasion.
