A superb long nosed scared-head golf club, the polished beach wood head is stamped H.PHILP and has its original horn sole insert and lead weight. The whipping on the scared joint is original as is the hickory shaft. The sheepskin grip is not complete.
Hugh Philp of St. Andrews (1782 - 1856) was probably maker of the finest long nose clubs and his clubs were highly collectable even over hundred years ago.
A Philp club rarely becomes available and this is a fine example in very good condition.
