Antique Golf Club, Scotia Model Spoon By R. Forgan
Antique Golf Club, Scotia Model Spoon By R. Forgan
Robert Forgan & Son Golf Club, St Andrews - "Scotia" Spoon
A fine period socket-head persimmon wood "Scotia" branded hickory-shafted spoon by Robert Forgan & Son of St Andrews. The club head is clearly marked with Forgan's details 'R. Forgan & Son, St Andrews' and the "Scotia" model stamp. It features a subtle pale alignment line across the crown to assist with aiming. The head incorporates a lead weight to the rear, together with a partial alloy sole plate, and presents well in excellent overall condition. The shaft is hickory, also stamped 'Forga' and is fitted with a polished leather grip. This "Scotia" spoon is in near mint condition, showing very little, if any, use, and would still be fully playable.
The best choice of golf balls for the players of hickory golf are low to mid compression modern golf balls. They compress more effectively at impact with the slower swing speeds typically associated with hickory clubs, helping deliver better distance, feel, and control. They also place less stress on vintage wood heads and hickory shafts, helping to protect older clubs from damage. Soft-feel or ladies' golf balls are especially well suited to modern hickory play and provide an excellent balance of playability and club preservation.
Approximate 19° loft & swing weight B-7.
The measurements shown are the length of the whole club, the width of the face and depth of the head.
