Antique Hickory Golf Club, Unusual Scared Head Wood.
A beautiful rare and unusual scared head, or spliced, persimmon wood golf club with original hickory shaft. Golf club makers were known to experiment combining socket heads and splice necks and this 'Whittet's patent' is one such combination. The splice joint finishes with a tongue (tenon joint) which goes into the back of the club head at the base. The head is with horn insert, lead weight to the rear and is stamped 'Whittet's patent 3545'. The club is in excellent original condition and is a very rare golf club indeed.
