Ceramic Shooting, Hunting Match Holder.
A rare Taylor-Tunnicliffe pottery match or vesta holder with colour shooting scene to the front. The back depicting a game bag and rifle. The base stamped with Taylor Tunnicliff trademark in blue containing the initials "TTC" within a circle under the "Queen's Crown" with a red hand-written production number '6664'. A great piece for the shooting enthusiast. Slight crazing to the glaze.
Taylor Tunnicliff & Company was founded in 1867 by Thomas Taylor and William Tunnicliff. Very little is known about the history of the company but they first manufactured high-grade ceramics for the electrical industry.
