Metamorphic Drinks Table or Trolley, BCM/Adap-Table.
A mid 20th Century walnut veneered metamorphic cocktail trolley. The top has a lift-off section that's doubles as a serving tray and when removed reveals a central fitted well which includes a plated cocktail shaker made by James Dixon & Sons and two glass bottles for your ingredients. The shaker has an external machined finish with an internal fruit squeezer and filter. There are fittings for 12 glasses but they are missing. The lower tier is fitted with a spring loaded rise and fall action so when in the upper position doubles the size of the table top to 30 inches by 26 inches. To each side of the trolley are two lockable cabinets, Tantalus boxes, that will hold three bottles each. The whole drinks trolley is raised on scroll feet with brass castors with rubber rimed wheels. Painted to one of the rails is "BCM / Adap-Table, Patent Applied For".
A great show piece for those cocktail nights.

BCM produced a 'Gold Medal Adap-Table, Dinner Wagon & Table Combined with a British Patent No. 311333/28. This table was not as elaborate as ours and was basically a table with a cutlery drawer to the bottom shelf, but the principle was the same.
