Gala Sonic Chrome Aircraft Desk Top Lighter.
A delightful chrome plated table lighter in the form of a jet fighter plane made in England by Gala Sonic. The aircraft pivots on a ball-jointed support arm which is mounted on a stepped octagonal plinth mounted onto a black bakelite Art Deco styled base. This is an interesting desk top aeroplane which can be placed at any angle of climb or descent, the central section of the plane's body (cockpit) lifts out to add flint/fuel. This type of Gala Sonic lighter can sometimes be found with Regd design numbers and patent numbers on the bottom of the base. This one does not but it normally reads 'REGD. DESIGNS, 869697, 869675, 880107/56, PRO. PATENT, 7599/56, AS APPLICABLE'.
