Vintage Racing Cromwell Crash Helmet.
A Manx Grand Prix Motorcycle helmet made in England by Cromwell. This is an ACU approved racing helmet with a Manx Grand Prix scrutineers label on the side, suggesting that it has most probably been used to race on the Isle of Man TT Course in an amateurs race meeting. The pudding basin shaped helmet has the old owners monogram painted onto the front, it has a cork interior which is fitted with a fabric headband with straps keeping a space between the head and outer glass fibre case. Strong leather neck and ear flaps are also fitted as is a chin strap and goggle strap to the rear. Inside the helmet is a cloth Cromwell trade label stating it is ACU approved, it has a British kite mark and the size is 7 1/8.
This is an A.C.U. (Auto-Cycle Union) approved racing helmet with the leather having the A.C.U perforation mark.
A very good helmet in used condition, a fantastic display piece with approximately 59 cm internal circumference.
