Owls In A Glass Case
Owls In A Glass Case

Bird Taxidermy, Two Barn Owls.
Taxidermy owls, a well prepared pair of barn owls mounted in a naturalistic setting in a glazed display case. The case is glazed on three sides with the back board painted blue and yellow. The two owls are perfectly modelled, perched on rocks with vegetation. A wonderful piece of taxidermy, maker unknown.
The barn owl (Tyto alba) is one of the most recognisable countryside bird with its heart-shaped face, buff back and wings and pure white under-parts. It is widely distributed across the UK, and indeed the world, it is also known as the common barn owl. The call of the barn owl is not a hoot, but an eerie drawn-out shriek. The barn owl is mostly nocturnal, but in Britain and some Pacific islands it can be seen hunting by day. Barn owls mate for life and specialise in hunting animals on the ground and nearly all of their food consists of small mammals.
