A rare instructional pocket book on Lawn Tennis by Straw Hat (Mr. J. Jeffery). This little book is part of Dean & Son Ltd., the publisher, "Champion Handbooks" series. The book is bound in green cloth covered thin card covers with red titling on the front cover with crossed tennis rackets and an advertisement for F.H. Ayres in black on the back cover. It was written by Mr. J. Jeffery - "Straw Hat" for those wishing to learn about the new craze - Lawn Tennis, its aim was to be nothing more than a hand-book to point out the court, strokes, rules etc. and to help those who may be unable to get better help. The book with text, Feltham advert, ink inscription '1912', court diagram and a listing of Dean's other handbooks.
