The Champion, Flat Top Lawn Tennis Racket By George Gibson Bussey.
An early wooden flat top, square head lawn tennis racket by Bussey 'The Champion'. A nice ash framed racket with convex walnut wedge. The wedge is embossed 'The Champion' with the Bussey "GGB Arrow" Trade Mark', at the top of the handle 'Bussey, London'. The racket with period white gut stringing with three rows of black trebling to the top and one to the bottom. It has a pronounced leather butt cap and has a tooled leather neck collar, on the side of the handle is stamped '14'.
George Bussey was a large London manufacturer of high quality equipment for sports and games.
