Signed Golf Print By Cecil Aldin
An early 20th century Edwardian golf chromolithograph print by Cecil Aldin, from Old English Sporting Pictures. Following on the success of his Fallowfield Hunt series in 1899 and Bluemarket Races in 1901, Aldin produced twelve Old English Sporting Pictures in 1901. This is the golf picture, typical of Aldin's picture very colourful and humorous. The picture depicts a gentleman golfer wearing top hat and a red coat struggling with the game of golf. His young caddie, wearing a traditional Scottish bonnet (tammie), can be seen holding the rest of the clubs under his arm and giggling at the golfers mishap. Published by Lawrence & Bullen 1901 and framed in original plain dark oak frame with mount and signed in pencil by the artist.

The twelve traditional British Sports in the series were Golf, Horse Racing, Shooting, Coaching, Curling, Cricket, Bowls, Ice Skating, Hunting, Fishing, Coursing and Hawking.
