Polo Watercolour, 'Sport in the Shiney'.
A stunning framed polo watercolour after Snaffles 'Sport in the Shiney'. This has been done by a very proficient and accomplished artist who has not signed the piece. There are a few slight variations to Snaffles piece, but is otherwise an exceptional piece of polo artwork. The main image 'The Game of Sahibs and Rajahs' shows a game of polo in full swing, surrounded by seven vignettes.
1 Three men stalking wild goat (The monkey 'e knowed where our road was, The wild goat 'e saw where we pass'd', 2 Steeplechase with a horse falling (Chasing), 3 A gentleman buying a horse, 4 Two mounted men pigsticking (PIG There's many a slip twixt The Cup and the Pig), 5 A polo player, 6 Fox hunting (The Bobbery Pack, The Belvoir may be 'andsomer, The Quorn Patienter under pressure, But for real tear-em an eat-em) 7 A gentleman with his two dogs.
The last image is taken from the September, 1912, issue of 'The Illustrated Sporting & Dramatic News' showing Snaffles Sport In The "Shiny".
