John Cave Archery Longbow.
A very good traditional archery self yew wood longbow, produced by John Cave, Ludlow. The bow is fitted with two horn nocks, a mother - of - pearl arrow plate (sometimes called an Arrow Pass) and a blue fabric handle. Just below the grip is the makers name 'John Cave, Ludlow' a heraldry crest and below the number '61 @ 29' (61lb @ 29 inches), indicating the draw weight of this bow in lbs. A nice modern usable bow in good original condition.
John Cave (Broad Street Ludlow, Shropshire) was an high quality furniture maker and also a bowyer, his father was an Antique dealer in Ludlow.
