A mahogany Billiard or Snooker ball case with metal fittings including a cabinet stay to prop the lid open. The interior is lined in the original green baize and contains a complete set of snooker balls and the original metal triangle. Originally snooker balls were made from ivory. The disadvantage of ivory - besides the near extinction of the elephants - was that it tends to shrink and therefore did not stay perfectly round. Later composite materials were used which had the tendency to explode as some included gunpowder. The case dates from the 1930ís with later balls.
