Jaques Croquet Set On Original Stand.
A fabulous John Jaques garden croquet set with two boxwood mallets and two lignum vitae mallets all with brass banding. The mallets come on an original John Jaques croquet stand (#28138) as well as an old pine carry box. The box stencilled 'Gamage's All England Special Croquet, The Referee'. To complete the set there are four coloured balls in the standard croquet colours, six cast iron metal hoops and two winning posts. The mallets are 95 cm in length with black and white corded grips, ebony guide lines, each head marked 'John Jaques'. They feature a traditional octagonal ash handle to help a player find the correct alignment of a shot. The mallet faces are scored with concentric rings that aid the playing of stop shots and follow through roll shots. The stand is made of oak with a brass carry handle and brass supports with a brass 'Jaques' trade label, it is held together with nuts so the stand can be dismantled.
The handles on the carry box are with Slazenger's hexagram 'Best is Best, S & S L, Thro' the World' trade mark logo.
A great garden croquet set.
