F.H. Ayres Garden Croquet Set In Unusual Seat Box.
Victorian garden croquet set for eight players in an unusual, original, fitted pine box which converts into a bench. The box with two metal carry handles at either end and raised on bun feet. The lid opens to convert the storage box into a bench. The good quality set consists of six boxwood mallets fitted with ash handles with coloured rings from one to four in red and blue for the different players (two are missing, originally there would have been eight mallets), the heads stamped: F.H. Ayres, London. The mallets are 96 cm in length. To complete the set there are eight boxwood balls with the same number of coloured rings to match the mallets, six metal hoops and one turned post with two sets of numbers 1,2,3,4 in red and blue.

Size with the bench back folded down is 76 cm high, 120 cm wide & 45 cm deep.

Good usable condition. Mallets all good, no chips or cracks (only six mallets though). One ball with a small chip.
