"The Publishers regret that hitherto they have been unable to find an artist capable and willing to undertake the hand-colouring of the flies figured in this book in such perfection as to meet the standard of meticulous accuracy required by the author for the " AUTHOR'S EDITION." It was originally intended that this should have been published simultaneously with the present hand-coloured edition, and it is hoped that it may still be possible to issue the "AUTHOR'S EDITION" later on", Being a Supplement to Frederic M.
