Original Fox Hunting Watercolour By Finch Mason
Original Fox Hunting Watercolor, Finch Mason.
A wonderful original hunting watercolour signed by the renowned sporting artist George Finch Mason, titled "With the boys away the Girls make play". Finch's caricatures of hunting stereotypes from the turn of the twentieth century are very popular and one can see why when you look at the style and character of this watercolour.
George Finch Mason (1850 - 1915) was an author, illustrator and sporting artist specialising in humorous studies and caricatures. Studied at Eton in 1860-64 where his father was a schoolmaster. He contributed to many publications including The Sporting Times and Punch as well as several books including Humours of the Hunting Field (1886), Flowers of the Hunt (1889), The White Hart and other Stories (1891), The Run of the Season (1902), and Heroes and Heroines of the Grand National (1907 and 1911).
