Five painted wooden panels depicting various sporting activities with some elements and figures made in relief. The 3D effect is very unusual and very eye catching. The sports depicted include Cricket, Football, Rugby, Boxing, Horse Racing, Surfing and Tennis. One panel is signed and dated 'Hesling 59'.
Bernard Hesling was born in 1905 to a Yorkshire family. He was a painter, muralist, cartoonist and journalist who left London in 1928 to work in Sydney.
