Antique Book Form Folding Backgammon, Chess and Draughts Board.
An attractive leather games board made to resemble a two-volume set of books. The illusion continues with gilt tooling and gilt title down the spine on the books: English Games Vol 1 & 2. Made of soft wood covered in leather with hinges to open out the board. The chess or draughts board is on the exterior and is made up of cream and black squares with nice gilt tooling. Once opened and turned over a nice colourful backgammon board is revealed, this is made of tooled tan leather background with red and black triangles with gilt tooled edging. To complete the backgammon set there are ebony and boxwood counters, fifteen of each, no chess pieces. When not using, the games board can be placed neatly on a bookshelf.
Dimensions when open: 44 ½ cm by 38 cm, 3 ½ cm high.
Chess squares measure 3 ½ cm.
