A good quality socket head, persimmon and hickory Driver by local golfer James George Sherlock, Hunstanton, Oxford. The original hickory shaft with polished leather grip and stamped 'Specially Selected'. This great looking club has a polished persimmon wood club head, lead weight to the rear, traditional horn slip along the leading edge of the face. The crown of the club head stamped 'Jas. G. Sherlock, Hunstanton, RHde Montmorency, Special'.
James Sherlock advertises himself at Stoke Poges Golf Club as a practical golf club and ball maker. Also his speciality was repairing and copying golf clubs. He also said "Try my special Autograph putter, sure to please".
The measurements shown are the length of the whole club, the width of the face and depth of the head.
