Brass and Wood Duplex Golf Club by Sir Walter Dalrymple.
A very rare 'Hammer' golf club, Iron and Bleek, by Sir Walter Dalrymple (the Baronet of North Berwick). The double faced hammer headed club stamped No.12 with both the brass faces being smooth. The two faces and the sole of the club head cast as one with the central part consisting of wood. The hickory shaft, with suede grip, passing through the center of the head and being secured with a wooden wedge. The head stamped 'Hutchison N.Berwick' on one side and 'Sir W.H. Dalrymple's Patent' on the other. Dalrymple received a British patent (No. 16,148) dated September 9th, 1892 for his hammer club, although it was very short lived. To find an example where very few are known to exist is extremely difficult, therefore making this a highly sort after collectible.

Dalrymple's patent describes three different models of his duplex club. Each club had two different faces, a driver and a brassie, an iron and a "bleek" and thirdly a mashie and a putter. A "bleek" possibly being Dalrymple's own term for a cleek. Bennett Lang was the craftsman employed by Dalrymple to make his clubs, but the work was carried out at the establishment of Jamie Hutchison.
