CLASSIC MATCHLESS MOTORCYCLE.
A good 350 cc Matchless motorcycle, model G5 in full working order with M.O.T. The bike is in good condition for it's age with original paint work. It starts very easy, with no smoke coming from the engine. One of the fins on the cylinder has some damage. A great British classic single that makes a great noise.
Matchless is one of the oldest marquees of British motorcycles and was started by Harry and Charlie Collier in 1899 in Plumstead, London. They had originally started out producing bicycles before going on to establish one of the most important British motorcycle firms. The Matchless tank emblem was a winged "M". Matchless had a long history of racing success with Charlie winning the first single-cylinder race in the first Isle of Man TT in 1907. In 1938, Matchless and AJS became part of Associated Motorcycles (AMC), with both firms producing their own models. AJS was the name used by the company A.J.Stevens & Co.Ltd in Wolverhampton, England, producing cars and motorcycles.
