This R75/7 machine with matching engine and frame numbers was one of 260 built by BMW in the Berlin plant in July 1977. The recorded mileage of 51 136 can be assumed correct when taking into account various MOT Test Certificates dating from 1991 onward. Between August 1998 and July 2000 a major restoration was carried out including full repainting of frame and panel work – at a cost of some £1,800. Between this time and the last owner not many miles were recorded but from July 2004 and the present - 12 years - some 22 000 miles were ridden, many on the Continent. One such trip took-in the annual BMW Fest in Garmisch Partenkirchen and motivated the owner to increase in engine capacity from 750cc to 1000cc as well as changing the front forks and twin front disc brakes of the last 75-series machines.

These changes have made the machine into a powerful long distance tourer but also a very flexible urban bike. It is offered with crash bars, aero screen, hand protectors, luggage rack and panniers. The current MOT runs until March 2017.

The R60/75 series were the first series to be manufactured completely in Berlin, as by 1969 all of Munich's production capacity was needed for automobiles. The R75/7 production ended in January 1979.

This is a great machine, powerful, handles well and easy to manoeuvre as it is much light than the modern equivalent
