Pepared Fish in Bow Fronted Case, Bream
Pepared Fish in Bow Fronted Case, Bream
Taxidermy, Preserved Fish, Cased Bream.
A cased bream by Frederick William Anstiss (1864 - 1936) in a nice bow fronted case with gilt lines. The case contains a cleverly modelled bream set against a painted backdrop with realistic river bed setting. There are two small paper labels internally, top left reads 'Bream taken by Mr. Davis from Oulton Broad Aug 14th 1892 weight 3lbs 8 ozs', top right a trade label 'F. Anstiss, Naturalist, 35 First St., Chelsea, London, S.W'.
Bow front cases are more sought after than any other type, the float glass shows off the fish nicely and gives a greater impression of water.
