Antique F.H. Ayres Lawn Tennis Racket.
A rare, early lopsided (tilt head or teardrop shape) lawn tennis racquet in good original condition by F.H. Ayres of London. The heavy ash lop sided frame is in very good condition, the wedge with slight damage and the frame with a small crack. The walnut concave wedge is stamped with the maker's name 'F.H. Ayres, 13oz ¼, Warranted, London'. The original period thick gut stringing is in very good condition. It has six rows of trebling to the top and four to the bottom. The handle grip is made up of the ash frame with applied fruitwood fascia strips finished with a leather butt strip.
An excellent Racket.
