Early Thick Gut Strung Lawn Tennis Rackets.
A rare pair of early lawn tennis racquets in good original condition by H. Richardson, U.S.A. The ash frames are in very good condition, still with the leather strip on the top edge of the frame. The convex walnut wedges are stamped with what looks like "H. Richardson, 77 Finsbury Pave NY. City". One is 13 oz the other 14 ½ oz. The original period thick gut stringing is there but a lot has come away from the frames, although they still look very attractive. It also has four rows of black trebling to the bottom and four rows of red to the top. The original leather butt caps are in place, a great pair for the collector.
