Pair of 'Spéciale' Lawn Tennis Rackets.
A very good example of a pair of wooden lawn tennis rackets, 'Spéciale'. The rackets look as though they have never been used with nice clean ash frames with walnut convex wedges stamped in gilt with 'Spéciale' and a logo of a knights helmet (medieval close helmet). They have good straight frames with the original white stringing, with three rows of red trebling to the bottom and top. The rackets with original leather butt caps and with a paper label on one reading 'GRAND BAZAR, DE LA RUE DE RENNES', this was a large department store in Paris.
A great pair of rackets that any collector would be proud to have in their collection. The two lawn tennis rackets are most probably English rackets made for the French market.
