Cheltenham Horse Racing Engravings.
A rare set of four mid-19th century aquatint etchings with printed colours and finished by hand. The set is of the Cheltenham Annual Grand Steeple Chase after Charles Hunt and published by I.W. Laird in 1841. The etchings are Plate 1 'The Start', Plate 2 'Frogmill Brook', Plate 3 'The Brook Forded' and Plate 4 'Coming In', all with the list of jockeys, horses and their silk colours.

All four Cheltenham race pictures are in their original maple frames but have been removed, cleaned, new mounts and reassembled with new back boards.

The Cheltenham Races is one of the most prestigious horse racing events and was first run in 1834. Cheltenham's Grand Annual Chase predates one of the other famous horse racing events, 'The Grand National', by five years and is the oldest race still running today.
