The "Perfection" Hardy Palakona Fishing Rod.
A beautifully 2 piece 8' split cane fly fishing rod by Hardy of Alnwick. The rod is in very good condition with the registration number H27103, dating it to 1959. It has the inscription spiralling around the rod, 'The "Perfection" Palakona Regd Trade Mark'. The rod is a 2 piece rod with original hardy canvas bags, fitted with bronze ferrules, spiral 'Lockfast' joint, cork handle with alloy screw reel fitting. The alloy screw reel fitting bears Hardy's logo on it with two different Royal appointment seals. One of the seals is the Prince of Wales plume of three feathers.
Hardy were the first manufacturer to make split cane rods in hexagonal form as The Hardy 'Palakona' rod.

Showing is also a Hardy's Anglers' Guides 1937 catalogue entry for the rod.

The rod has been designed to deal with the large Steel-head trout caught in the Rogue River. It is capable of casting a long line, mastering heavy, hard fighting fish, and is wonderfully light to fish with.
