Hardy 'The Wye' Palakona Salmon Fishing Rod.
A fine double-handed salmon fly fishing rod by Hardy Bros. of Alnwick, The Wye'. This is a good 10' 10" split cane Palakona three piece rod with spare tip and original canvas Hardy bag with tags. The rod is in fair condition with a registration number H1801 dating it to 1955. It has the inscription spiralling around the rod 'The Wye'. Palakona Regd, Trade Mark'. The Palakona rod has the alloy 'screw-grip' reel fitting bearing the Hardy's logo and two different Royal appointment seals, one being the Prince of Wales plume of three feathers. It has a smooth 18 ½" cork handle with special shaped 'L.R.H.' rubber button, agate butt and tip rings, 'full open' bridge rings, spiral 'lockfast' joint, burgundy silk whippings with intermediates.

Hardy's say about the rod:
The "Wye" Salmon-Fly Rods

The 12 ½ and 13 ½ ft are stout double-handed rods with plenty of power. The 11 ft is a strong, single-handed rod, which can be comfortably used by men of fairly powerful physique. The handle is made extra long, so that when desired they may be used double-handed.

One of the images is a copy showing the entry for the rod in a Hardy's Anglers' Guide & Catalogue.
