Vintage Hardy Fly Fishing Rod, The 'Hardy Fly'.
A fine 11ft 9 inch, 3 piece split cane fly fishing rod by Hardy's of Alnwick with spare tip. The 'Palakona' rod with agate lined butt and tip guides, Hardy's 'W' brass reel fitting and spiral 'lockfast' joint fittings with alloy stoppers. The butt cap stamped with serial number 35099 dating the rod to 1897. The rod has the painted black inscription spiralling around the shaft 'the "Hardy Fly", 'Palakona', 'Regd. Trade Mark' and comes in a later Hardy canvas bag.
