Mahogany 18th Century Card Table, Games Table
A mid-18th century George II mahogany fold over card or games table. When not in use this high-quality piece of furniture serves as a console table or hall table. The shaped top folds open, supported by a single gate leg, to reveal a green baize playing surface, ideal for evening card games. The table with a single oak lined frieze drawer to the front supported on four turned legs terminating in a pad foot, fronts legs with carved shields to the knees. The baize has been replaced, top with four corner candle/drinks roundels with a further four counter wells or 'guinea wells' within the playing surface. The back of the games table is also veneered, this is a sign of exceptional quality.
A beautiful functional authentic piece of furniture with great patina.
